Making the decision to seek alternative treatment like NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques) is the first step in alternative allergy treatment. The second step is finding the right practitioner. This one can be challenging, as there are many practitioners who claim to be NAET practitioners, but don’t follow the procedures for true NAET. Communicating with Your Doctor Regarding Allergies

By Staff | Sep 5, 2007 | No Comments »

Whether it’s your first visit to the doctor regarding allergies, or a follow up, you need to be able to leave the office feeling sure of yourself, your practitioner, and your treatment. You need to feel all your questions and concerns have been addressed. That, however, is easier said than done. We all have probably left the doctor’s office at one time or another a bit confused or wishing we had just been a little more persistent or paid a little better attention, I know that I have. Maybe we wished our friend was there so we could ask him what exactly the doctor meant when she said that. The following is a list to help you through your first allergy visit or any subsequent visits during your treatments: Continue reading…

Stinging Nettle as Allergy Relief

By Staff | Aug 20, 2007 | No Comments »

In my quest for alternate forms of allergy relief, I recently came across information on one particular herb, stinging nettle, which is being used with good results for allergy relief, especially for the relief of hay fever. It has a long history of medicinal purpose, including treatments ranging from rheumatism to anemia to eczema. Today it is being used not only for those same ailments, but also for urinary tract problems and most importantly for us - allergies and eczema. Continue reading…

SLIT: An Alternate to Allergy Shots

By Staff | Jul 25, 2007 | No Comments »

As all sorts of allergies are becoming more prominent in our daily lives, whether food allergy signs catch our eye in the grocery store or we notice our neighbors wearing face masks while mowing their yards, or we ourselves are directly affected by some sort of allergy, more types of treatment are becoming available as well.

Gone is the day (in my opinion) when we go to one doctor, listen to one diagnosis and treatment, and follow that with no further research or opinions. Continue reading…

Today’s Commonness of Allergies

By Staff | Jul 20, 2007 | No Comments »

Why is it now that there are peanut free tables in the lunchrooms at schools? Did teachers always carry backpacks full of epipens and inhalers on field trips? Did certain kids always stay inside on “high pollen count” days and not go out to recess? TV is inundated with commercials for allergy relief. Why so many allergies now? Have they always been around to this degree? Last year my daughter had 6 kids in her class with allergies and epipens out of a class of 21. That to me is a lot. Continue reading…

People try modifying their diets, taking supplements, keeping their windows closed and staying inside. These can be effective, along with some other techniques, including yoga. Yoga is a measure that has helped many people with allergies overcome their symptoms and find relief from their sneezing, itchy eyes, scratchy throats and the myriad of other symptoms that go along with seasonal and environmental allergies or any type of allergy that affects the upper respiratory system. By Staff | Jun 8, 2007 | No Comments »

Most people do not like taking shots of any kind. They usually stem from a fear we form about them as children. Yet, if you are a year long allergy sufferer or if your allergy symptoms are extreme, an allergy shot may be your best line of defense against your allergies.

First, before you can take an allergy shot, you and your doctor must be fully aware what your allergies are. This means you will have to take an allergy test. Continue reading…

By Staff | May 18, 2007 | No Comments »

While blood testing isn’t the most widely used form of allergy testing, it is often used and is known as radioallergosorbent testing or RAST for short. This test is used in order to see what the blood level of an antibody (immunoglubulin E, or IgE for short) is in a patient’s body. This is a chemical that the body produces as a response to certain types of allergens. The body’s IgE level is usually higher whenever a patient has allergies or in asthma patients.
