High numbers of people who use powder inhalers for their asthma or pulmonary disease do so improperly, a recent study found. The older the patient, the more common the misuse is. Also, the study found that only two thirds of patients were given formal instruction on proper usage. Without formal instruction, the misuse rate rises.
