EGG ALLERGY ALERT
November 25, 2008
Stop & Shop Supermarket Company is recalling all butternut squash sides in the supermarket chain’s prepared turkey and ham holiday dinners due to undeclared egg.The recall applies to all 24-oz. sides of butternut squash distributed in Stop & Shop stores as part of the stores’ packaged turkey and ham holiday dinners.Consumers may return to the store for a $12 refund. MILK ALLERGY ALERT
November 21, 2008
Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., is recalling “Wegmans Italian Classics Seasoned Tomato Sauce” due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was distributed in Wegmans stores in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia and would have been available between Saturday, November 15 and Thursday, November 20, 2008.
Consumers may return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may call (800) 934-6267, ext. 4760.

MILK ALLERGY ALERT

Seattle’s Favorite Gourmet Cookies & Dessert Co. is recalling “Orange Cranberry and Banana Nut Muffin Tops” due to undeclared milk. The products were distributed nationwide in coffee shops, espresso stands, and retail outlets and are individually wrapped in clear plastic with a black printed label.
Consumers can return these products to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers with questions may call (866) 203-5588.

PANOS Brands is recalling “Vegan Rella Cheddar Block” due to undeclared milk. The product was distributed through grocery and natural stores nationally and comes in 8-oz. packages with UPC 037983 000154 and a “sell by” date of 12/09/2008.
Consumers may return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may call (800) 494-8839, ext. 425.

Reporting an Allergic Reaction From FAAN

If you’ve had an allergic reaction to a food that should be safe according to the label, do the following to report the reaction.

• Save any remaining product. Wrap it carefully and label it so it won’t be eaten. Store it in the freezer if it is perishable.
• Call the manufacturer to report the reaction. Have the package in front of you when you call, and write down the name of the person with whom you speak.
• Call the FDA district office for your geographic area and file a complaint with the Consumer Complaint Coordinator. Contact information for the FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinators is listed online here.
• Ask for a complaint number. Write down the name of the person with whom you speak and the complaint number. Call back in a few weeks to find out the status of the complaint.
• Call FAAN and let them know about the reaction.
