May Food Recalls

Here are the latest food recalls due to undeclared allergens for the month of May. Take a look, check your pantries and always check ingredients.

• Shrimp Allergy Alert; May 7
Blount Fine Foods is recalling “Blount Signature Soups All Natural New England Clam Chowder” due to undeclared shrimp. The product was distributed in Connecticut and Massachusetts through Shaw’s Supermarkets, Omni Foods, Donelan Market, and Cirelli Marketplace and is sold in a 20-oz. plastic cup with a film seal and plastic lid. The lot code 0424086D and “sell by” date of 6/23/2008 are printed on the bottom of the cup. Consumers may return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund or call (800) 274-2526.

• Milk Allergy Alert; May 2
Cedar Crest Specialties, Inc., Manitowoc, Wisconsin is recalling Lezza Blue Raspberry Italian Ice because it may contain milk allergen protein that is not listed in the product’s ingredient statement. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may experience a potentially serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.It is sold in round plastic pint containers with a lot code of 2116. and was distributed to retail outlets in Illinois, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, Louisiana, Kansas, Indiana, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Minnesota during 2006 and 2007. Concerned consumers are encouraged to return any affected product to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. • Milk Allergy Alert; May 5
Cedar Crest Specialties, Inc., is recalling “Lezza Blue Raspberry Water Ice” due to undeclared milk. The product was distributed in retail outlets in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin and comes in round, plastic pint-sized containers, with a lot code of 2116. Consumers may return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund or call (866) 233-2788.

• Soy Allergy Alert; May 3
Little Bay Baking Company is recalling “Corn Bread and Muffin Mix” due to undeclared soy. This product was distributed throughout the United States in retail stores and Internet orders. It comes in a 12.6-oz. white paper tin tie bag and was sold under the names Little Bay Baking or GFCFDiet. Consumers may return the product to the manufacturer for a full refund or call (603) 828-7236.
