Anytime you go to the doctor, whether it’s for yourself or your child, the visit has the potential to be overwhelming. This can be even more so when you are going for the first time regarding a medical condition, like allergies. You need to go in with a plan to provide maximum benefit and understanding, and preferable another adult to help you stay clear, ask questions and understand, as well as remember everything. Awareness? A Step Backwards

Each year at our elementary school we have a fall festival as I am sure of many of you do as well. This year the concept has changed for the first time in many years from a carnival type atmosphere, with booths an inflatable jumpies and slides to a “screen on the green” event. Whereas before there was little food except popcorn and pre-ordered Chick-fil-a, now it’s more of a dinner event. Corn Allergy

While I could not come across a recipe that is free of corn syrup, corn starch or vegetable oil per a reader request, I did find a couple of interesting resources and some good information. First, corn is in everything. If this is a corn allergy, you have to be really careful. I once heard that everything you eat is corn, from steak (corn fed beef) to cereal (made with corn) to sugar and shortening. Even the containers foods are sold in like cereal boxes are made of corn.
