Quote of the Day - September 8th:
The key findings are that the September epidemic of asthma occurs first and most strongly in children and later in adults and that its occurrence is directly related to school return.

On Allergymoms.com this week, there is a post that is sure to spark conversation. The poster, Gina, even states the fact that she debated to post it because of the negativity of the information. New Allergy Free, Skin Friendly Clothing Line

By Heather Legg | Feb 22, 2008 | No Comments »

I remember once years ago, my daughter broke out in a rash all over her legs. After trying and trying to figure out why, we realized it was from the new pants she had worn. I hadn’t washed them before she wore them, and whatever was in them, caused her to break out. Many people have much more sensitive skin than that. They can only wear certain materials or else not only find themselves very uncomfortable, but having serious skin issues as well. Continue reading…

The Allergy Wizard

I’m always on the lookout for ways to help kids understand about their allergies. It’s one thing to explain their condition to them, but empowering them and making them comfortable with it is another story. Sometimes, we as parents, need a little help in this. Sure, our doctors can talk to them and tell them how to be safe, but that’s not always the best route, either. There are a few good books out there and some good websites; here is a website that I just came across that is fun, interactive and kid friendly. Continue reading…

Eye Allergies: How to Prevent and a Little Quiz

By Heather Legg | Feb 9, 2008 | No Comments »

My husband gets the strangest eye allergy; we can’t figure it out. It’s not the lids that swell on him; it’s the whites of his eye. He can feel it coming on, but it’s quick and it’s here. He can’t figure out the trigger or what to do to prevent it, only how to treat it. I guess when you know what your trigger is, it’s easier to avoid and prevent. We’ll keep guessing and hopefully one of these days, his “jelly eye” will be a thing of the past. Continue reading…

What to Look for in an Alternative Practitioner

By Heather Legg | Jan 27, 2008 | No Comments »

We often talk about alternative forms of allergy relief, including NAET and acupuncture. For some, it’s an obvious choice. For others, it may be sort of going out on a limb to try a non traditional practice. For anyone going this route, it is so important to find a licensed, certified, knowledgeable practitioner. It seems like it may be a little easier to know for certain that your medical doctor is reputable, but with an alternative practitioner, it may be a bit easier for the not so reputable ones to slip by. Here are some tips on finding an alternative practitioner who will be qualified, licensed and highly regarded. Continue reading…
