New Benadryl Product: Perfect Measure – Single Use Spoons

By staff

For those of us who always keep some sort of Benadryl product with us, in our cars, in our purses, in our desks, it’s exciting when a new form of the product comes out. We’ve seen the liquid, the tablets, the strips, and we probably all have our favorite. Benadryl’s latest is the Perfect Measure pre-filled liquid single use spoons for children.

These come in packages of 10 pre-filled plastic spoons that each contains 5mL of Benadryl in them. Children ages 6 to 12 will take one or two individual spoons, adults and children over 12 will take two to four spoonfuls. The tops just twist off and the vials/spoons are disposable.

I’m excited to see this product as I think it might be a good way to keep the transportable Benadryl around. I have tried the Quick Dissolve strips (these come in packs of 10 as well, same dosages) and though they are easy for children to take, and really easy to keep with you, they are not easy to open. In fact, you really need scissors to get the individual strip open, so that doesn’t really work for conveniences sake.

If the liquid is your choice of Benadryl, this will be a great addition to the Benadryl family for you and your children. No worries of making sure you have a dosage cup, nothing to rinse out, and nothing to spill. I know that even the bottles of liquid with their childproof caps can leak (or at least get crusty) in diaper bags, glove compartments, or wherever you keep them. The Perfect Measure Benadryl will give you the benefit of liquid with the ease of the tablet.

I still like the tablets, and my kids are fine taking them, but many kids prefer liquid to tablet. When you are in an allergy emergency, you don’t want to spend your time persuading your child to chew up a pill.

Cost wise, I think you are still best with the tablets as they run about $0.26 a tablet; the strips are about $0.70 a strip (not worth it to me considering the difficulty opening them) while the liquid in the bottle runs about $0.30 per 5mL dose. I have not seen the price for the new Perfect Measure product, but do know they come in packs of 10, more like the strips. I would imagine the price would be similar. This however, may be worth it if they are easy to administer.

This just might be the new great transportable Benadryl product, and we can all keep our bottles at home, leak free!

Just Called McNeil Pharmaceuticals. Benedryl Perfect Measure and Fast Melt production issues. It is not in recall. They are not sure when it will be in stores. You can buy on Amazon if you want to pay the ridiculous $30+ dollars a box.

Walgreen’s has the single-dosage “perfect Measure” in the “Walgreen’s” brand, that is the only place I have been able to find it and they even run out on occasion
