Sunscreen for Skin Sensitive

By Heather Legg | May 30, 2009

It’s that time of year to be slathering our kids and ourselves with sunscreen. There are so many varieties on the market right now; it’s hard to choose from. For those with sensitive skin, it’s even harder.

Over the years, my kid have both suffered summer rashes which I believe were due to sunscreens. I have to go with a sensitive skin, hypoallergenic formula  or I am sure to see breakouts. the rash usually happens on the inner thighs and sometimes the arms. It’s easy to get rid of, but pretty annoying while it’s here.

I have had the best luck with California Baby products. They are gentle and made from natural ingredients. I’ve had dermatologists recommend Neutrogena, which is less expensive and seems to be alright for the skin, I just personally prefer California Baby. Arbonne makes a good sunscreen, too, for children, but the dermatologist scoffed at that one, saying it was overpriced and Neutrogena was just as good. Arbonne doesn’t cause the reactions that others do, so if you’re willing to pay, give it a try.

Here is a list from www.godairyfree.com of other sunscreens that seem to work well for sensitive skin. Try your health food markets or online if you are having trouble finding them, some are easier to find than others.
